Hands on, hearts on

Glasgow Science Centre

This is Glasgow Science Centre, the hands-on science centre where I worked for over 5 years. I was part of the original development team, and worked there for 3 years after opening. Find out what I did at GSC.

There is so much to do at GSC that you'll need more than one visit to do it all. My favourite things at GSC are:

The Planetarium. I recommend that you go to one of the live star shows. The Zeiss planetarium projector is the best in the UK, and you will see the night sky more clearly than you've ever seen it before. If you've a heart in your body, you'll get a lump in your throat. (There's a small extra charge for the planetarium, but it's worth it.)

Slow Bubbles. This is an exhibit on Floor 1. All you do is blow bubbles in a tall tube of thick oil. It's easy, but the bubble are beautiful, and there's so much to see. I've seen a 3-year-old and a Nobel Prize winner equalled enthralled by this exhibit.

Hot Air Balloon Workshop. Make your own hot air balloon out of polythene and glue. Many of these balloons fly 15 metres or more into the air. (This workshop will not be available every day).

Lots of people think that science centres are just for children.

They aren't.

Science centres are for anyone whose heart is open to the fascination of the world around us.
